An exceptionally rare original Ferrari factory postcard, featuring the iconic portrait of Wolfgang von Trips as used in Ferrari’s official publicity material, including period yearbooks. The image is signed prominently across the portrait. The reverse bears the Ferrari script and the year 1957
Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips, born in 1928, was a German aristocrat whose talent behind the wheel quickly earned him a place with Scuderia Ferrari during Formula One’s formative years. Making his debut with the team in 1956, he became admired for his smooth, intelligent driving style and technical understanding, qualities that aligned perfectly with Ferrari’s racing philosophy. By the late 1950s, von Trips had established himself as one of the team’s leading drivers and a respected figure in international motorsport.
The pinnacle of his career came in the 1961 Formula One season, when he emerged as a genuine World Championship contender. Victories and podium finishes, including a memorable win at the Dutch Grand Prix, placed him at the top of the standings and firmly in contention for the title. Tragically, his life and career were cut short during the Italian Grand Prix at Monza that same year, an event that remains one of the most somber chapters in Formula One history. At the time of his death, von Trips was leading the championship, and his passing ultimately shaped the outcome of the season and the legacy of Ferrari’s 1961 campaign.
Because of his brief career and enduring historical significance, authentic Wolfgang von Trips autographs are increasingly scarce and highly sought after, especially signed on Ferrari material. A refined addition to any serious collection of Ferrari memorabilia or Formula One autographs.
