Michael Schumacher Signed 2007 Personal Bespoke Ferrari Cap

Michael Schumacher’s personal and signed Ferrari cap from 2007, his first season following retirement from Formula One racing.

This cap was made specifically for Michael Schumacher and features the desirable Marlboro tobacco branding, together with Ferrari and Deutsche Vermögensberatung embroidery. Unlike standard commercially available caps, the peak was specially made shorter to suit Michael’s personal preference, a distinctive feature found on his tailor-made caps.

Schumacher has personally signed the peak in black ink. The autograph is genuine and Michael’s hand or pen has clashed with the rasied stripes on the peak while signing, causing the final feature to ‘hook’ over. This natural interaction between the pen and the construction of the cap is clearly visible when examined closely.

The cap dates from an interesting transitional period in Schumacher’s career. Having retired from racing at the end of 2006 as a seven-time Formula One World Champion and winner of 91 Grands Prix, he remained closely involved with Ferrari throughout 2007 in an advisory capacity, attending races and providing technical input to the team.

It proved to be another significant year in Ferrari history. Kimi Räikkönen, Schumacher’s replacement in the race team alongside Felipe Massa, won the 2007 Formula One World Championship, while Ferrari also secured the Constructors’ Championship. Schumacher’s involvement extended beyond the pit wall: later that year he returned to the cockpit of the championship-winning Ferrari F2007, testing the car at Barcelona as Ferrari prepared for the regulation changes coming for 2008.

Combining personal Schumacher provenance, the rare Marlboro specification, his preferred shortened peak and a genuine period autograph, this is a particularly desirable piece from the immediate aftermath of his legendary Ferrari racing career.
