An exceptional piece of Michael Schumacher and Scuderia Ferrari history!
This original race-used chassis cover panel was fitted to Michael Schumacher’s 1997 Ferrari F310B F1 car and has been personally signed by Michael Schumacher across the Marlboro decal.
The panel was originally fitted to the top forward section of the F310B chassis. The panel was removable, providing Ferrari mechanics access to suspension set-up changes, hydraulics and adjustment of the driver’s pedal position. This is the forward of two removable panels positioned on the chassis, with a second panel mounted immediately behind it. The car’s pitot tube was located between the two sections.
Constructed from lightweight carbon fibre by Ferrari, the reverse remains exposed, revealing the original carbon weave and construction. The top retains the iconic 1997 shade of red, together with the wear, patina, marks and imperfections expected from genuine Formula One race-used bodywork.
This piece is made particularly special as it was signed in period by Michael Schumacher with Michael signing across the Marlboro graphic. The signature is entirely consistent with Schumacher’s autograph style from the 1997 period and creates an extraordinary combination of original Ferrari bodywork and the genuine signature from one of Formula One’s greatest drivers.
The Ferrari F310B represented a pivotal stage in Schumacher’s transformation of Ferrari into a championship-winning force. During the 1997 season he took five Grand Prix victories and brought Ferrari into a season-long fight for the Drivers’ World Championship, helping establish the foundations for the extraordinary success that would follow.
Original components from Schumacher’s early Ferrari career are becoming increasingly difficult to acquire, particularly substantial and visually recognisable pieces from the chassis itself. Signed examples are rarer still.
With its prominent position on the original car, unmistakable Ferrari livery and exceptionally well-placed Schumacher signature, this is an outstanding piece of Formula One history. It would make a spectacular framed display alongside period photography or, for the fortunate owner of an appropriate chassis, could potentially be reunited with an original F310B.
