An exceptional and historically significant original signed portrait photograph of Ludovico Scarfiotti, dated 1965 and featuring a personal handwritten inscription by the legendary Italian racing driver.
Ludovico Scarfiotti (1933–1968) occupies a unique place in motorsport history as the last Italian driver to win the Italian Grand Prix, achieving this milestone at Monza in 1966 driving for Ferrari. Born into Italian aristocracy, Scarfiotti combined refinement with fearless talent, competing at the highest levels of Formula One, endurance racing, and sports car competition during one of Ferrari’s most competitive eras.
The year 1965 was a pivotal period in Scarfiotti’s career. By this time, he had already established himself as a key Ferrari works driver, contributing to the marque’s dominance in sports car racing and earning recognition for his precision, composure, and technical intelligence. Photographs from this era are especially sought after, capturing Scarfiotti at the height of his professional prominence, just before his landmark Grand Prix victory and Le Mans successes.
This photograph is authentically hand-signed and inscribed. Signed images from Scarfiotti are notoriously scarce, owing to his tragically short life and limited signing opportunities prior to his fatal hill climb accident in 1968.
