Jim Clark Signed Helmet Portrait Photograph

A superb original black-and-white portrait photograph personally signed by legendary Scottish racing driver Jim Clark.

The photograph captures Clark in full racing attire, wearing his distinctive open-face Bell helmet with his goggles resting around his neck. Dressed in Les Leston Dunlop overalls and photographed in an unguarded moment, the image offers an atmospheric portrayal of one of motor racing’s most naturally gifted and intensely private champions.

Clark has signed the lower-right portion of the photograph in black marker pen. The autograph displays the confident, flowing characteristics associated with his 1965–1967 signature style, dating it to the most celebrated period of his remarkable career. Signatures from this era executed in vintage marker pen are particularly rare and create a strong visual contrast against the monochrome image.

The period encompassed Clark’s dominant second Formula One World Championship in 1965, a season in which he also became the first Formula One World Champion to win the Indianapolis 500. Clark’s career was tragically cut short in 1968, leaving relatively few authentic signed photographs compared with many later Formula One champions.
