Graham Hill Original Used & Worn 1966 Race Suit – Photo Matched

This race suit was worn by Graham Hill during the 1966 international motor racing season, a year of considerable significance in Hill’s illustrious career. The suit is well documented through period photography and can be seen in use across numerous events throughout the season.

The suit was manufactured by Hinchman of Indianapolis and originates from the collection of a lifelong enthusiast and friend of Bette and Graham Hill. It is believed that the suit was gifted by the Hill family in period and remained within this private collection for many decades. Following the collector’s passing, the suit was acquired in 2026 by AB Memorabilia, purchased from the broker responsible for managing the estate sale of the collector’s personal effects.

The suit retains the visible remnants of where Graham Hill’s name was originally stitched above the left chest pocket, with fading and stitching marks clearly indicating the location of the removed name patch. During the period it was common practice for drivers to remove their name from race suits before gifting them to friends or acquaintances. Such suits were frequently passed on to fellow drivers who may not have been in a position to commission bespoke racing overalls. Similar examples of this practice are known from the suits of drivers including James Hunt and Gilles Villeneuve, where name patches were likewise removed prior to presentation.
