The 1987 Hungarian Grand Prix took place at the Hungaroring on 9 August 1987, during one of Formula 1’s most iconic turbo-era seasons. The race was won by Nelson Piquet for Williams-Honda, with Ayrton Senna finishing second for Lotus-Honda and Alain Prost third for McLaren-TAG. Nigel Mansell had started from pole and looked set for victory before a late wheel-nut failure ended his challenge, making the race one of the memorable turning points of the 1987 World Championship.
